We create empowering experiences for those facing adversity and trauma by providing wilderness programs.
What we do.
We draw from the power of rivers, community, and mentorship to help people heal and thrive.
Founded in 2010, LEAP provides multi-day, no-fee therapeutic whitewater kayaking programs in collaboration with nonprofit partners serving youth and adults facing adversity. Our immersive river programs on the Deschutes and Salmon Rivers support healing, confidence, and connection through time in nature and community.
LEAP works exclusively through nonprofit partnerships, augmenting existing services and expanding access to therapeutic wilderness experiences that may otherwise be out of reach. Programs integrate Class I–IV rapids, adaptive equipment, intentional community-building, and trauma-informed facilitation, alongside guided reflection and peer support.
Offered at no cost, LEAP programs remove financial barriers while strengthening the support networks participants rely on.
LEAP & FriendsPDX
Over six days, five nights on the Lower Salmon River in Idaho, youth and their long-term mentors step away from daily distractions and into an experience rooted in what matters most: connection, confidence, and community. From whitewater rapids to quiet stretches of canyon, from riverside camps to stories shared under the stars, participants deepen their relationships, discover inner strength, and experience the healing power of wild places.
